250,000 Victorians went hungry last year

A large survey by Melbourne University's McCaughey Centre found that one in 20 residents in the outer western Melbourne suburb of Werribee ran out of food and couldn't afford to buy more during the past year. The director Mr Wiseman said " We also found that 6.1 per cent, or about 250,000 Victorians, could not afford to put food on the table at least once in the past 12 months.
